A Time-Based discount gets bigger the sooner you finish, and a live timer shows where you are. A Fixed discount is a flat percentage with no timer, the same however long you stay. Each restaurant chooses which to run, and when.
The app shows the restaurant's current offer, so you know whether it's Time-Based or Fixed before you order.
No. One offer applies to each visit. If a restaurant runs both, its Time-Based offer applies during the hours it has set, and its Fixed offer applies the rest of the time.
When you scan the till QR to pay, DineDash applies the live offer (on a Time-Based offer, based on how long you took) and takes it off the bill before your card is charged. Nothing to claim afterwards.
On a Time-Based offer you simply pay full price, with no penalty. It's exactly what you'd pay without DineDash. On a Fixed offer, time doesn't affect your discount.
No dedicated staff app is needed. Waitstaff simply point customers to the table QR code. The entire flow is customer-driven through their own phone.
